New Year’s Resolutions for People With Frisky Dogs

January 1 2018

Happy New Year! Do you have a playful, energetic dog? If so, your pooch will be right there with you over the coming months, cheering you on with doggy kisses, happy dances, and tail wags as you strive to meet your goals. Why not incorporate Fido into your new resolutions? Read on as a local Cherry Hill, NJ vet suggests some resolutions for people with frisky dogs.

Get Plenty Of Toys

Playthings aren’t just fun for Fido: they’re actually crucial to his health and well-being. Playing helps your canine companion burn off excess energy, and gives him a suitable outlet for any frustration he may be feeling. It also provides your furry buddy with beneficial mental stimulation. Make sure your pooch has lots of fun playthings.

Get Lots Of Exercise

Proper activity is just as important for dogs as it is for people. Fido’s exact exercise needs will depend on his age, weight, health, and breed, so ask your vet for specific advice.

Puppyproof

Never underestimate Fido’s ability to get into mischief! Do some basic puppyproofing around your home to keep your playful pet safe. Remove or secure toxic plants; small or sharp objects; chemicals; medications; plastic bags, wraps, and ties; and anything else that could potentially be dangerous.

Finish Fido’s Training

Making sure your furry pal knows basic doggy obedience commands, like Sit,  Stay,  Come,  Heel, and Lay Down , is very important. If your pooch doesn’t have these mastered yet, work with him until he does. If Fido already knows these crucial commands, move on to advanced training, or show him some cute tricks.

Have Fun

There’s nothing cuter than a playful dog running after his favorite squeaky toy. Fido is also adorable when he is carrying his favorite plaything to you, hoping you’ll toss it to him. Take time every day to play with your pet!

Score Some Tail Wags

It doesn’t take much to please our canine companions. Yummy snacks, new toys, belly rubs, and ear scritches are all on the list of Fido’s favorite things. Pamper your pet a bit this year, and keep that cute tail going!

Explore

Fido loves a change of scenery. Take your furry bff to a new doggy park this year, or try a new trail.
