Cat Lovers Month

December 13 2022

December is Cat Lovers’ Month. Fluffy will definitely appreciate some extra toys, treats, and catnip. However, this is a purrfect time to revisit your furry friend’s care regimen, and see if anything needs adjusting. Cats are known for being easy keepers, but they do need love and good care. A Cherry Hill, NJ veterinarian suggests some things you can do for your kitty in this article.

Food Upgrade

Good nutrition is crucial to Fluffy’s overall health and well-being. Fluffy’s nutritional needs will change over time. If you can, consider upgrading to a better brand. Ask your vet for specific advice on this.

Veterinary Care

Just like people, cats need regular medical care to stay healthy. While our feline friends are quite hardy, they’re definitely not immune to the effects of illness, disease, and parasites. Let this be a reminder to make an appointment.

Stimulation

Fluffy may spend the vast majority of her time sleeping, but she can’t nap all the time. Your furball needs things to occupy herself with when she is actually awake! A comfy window seat with a good view can keep kitties occupied for hours. Also, make sure your furry pal has plenty of toys.

Playtime

Did you know that taking even just a few minutes a day to play with Fluffy can help keep her happy and healthy? This will probably brighten your day up as well. There are few things more adorable than a cat hard at play!

Fountain

Many of our feline pals prefer to drink running water, and with good reason. In the wild, standing water is much more likely to be contaminated by algae or parasites. A fountain would be a great holiday gift!

Grooming

Fluffy will take time out of her daily napping schedule to groom herself, but that doesn’t mean she can’t use a little help. Get into the habit of brushing your feline buddy regularly. This is particularly helpful for senior cats, as they are often too stiff and sore to clean themselves properly.

Senior Facilities

Speaking of seniors, if Fluffy is in her golden years, consider making some small adjustments to help keep her comfortable as she ages. Nightlights, pet ramps and senior-friendly litterboxes are all small things that can make a big difference.
